Drone survey of existing ground conditions

Access to high stockpiles, crest edges and steep slopes are risky, unsafe and of course prohibited…

After having performed a traditional topo land survey with a RTK GNSS rover, the survey team proposed to carry out a RPAS survey to confirm the initial contours and conditions of the surfaces above water. Later on, they will carry out regular progress surveys.

Compared to traditional topo, the aerial survey was globally more detailed and highlighted slight different profiles and slopes for the stockpiles. The main cause is that the topo operator didn’t access unprotected crests and edges of stockpiles, for safety reason (LSR1)

This results in a significant difference in the total stockpile volumes.
